WA Fight Back As Bulls Suffer Shield Loss
The myFootDr Queensland Bulls run of success in the Sheffield Shield has been halted after suffering an 8-wicket loss to the Western Australia Warriors in Perth.
WA successfully chased down the Bulls’ target of 227 in less than an hour on day four having resumed at 2-170, with Adam Voges (78 not out) and Jonathan Wells (113 not out) combining for an unbeaten 168-run stand to hand the hosts victory.
Having taken an 88-run lead into their second innings thanks to a fine 157-run knock from skipper Usman Khawaja, the Bulls will rue allowing the Warriors back into the game after being bowled out for 138.
WA pace bowler Simon Mackin took 11 wickets for the match with returns of 5-68 and 6-33 to take our the man of the match awards.
Despite the loss, the Bull remain in third spot on the Shield ladder behind South Australia and the undefeated Victoria.
The Shield now takes a break during the KFC T20 Big Bash League before resuming in February.
