Queensland has launched its School Sport Australia 15 & Under Boys National Championship campaign with victory against Western Australia.

Playing on Brisbane Grammar Field 1 at Northgate, the home side took just 31 overs to pass the visitors’ total of 101.

Queensland opening batsman Jed Wilson (43no) top scored, while William Trigar (3-16) and Ryan Walker (3-20) did the damage with the ball.

The School Sport Australia 15 & Under Boys National Championship runs from March 26 to April 2, with the first two rounds of matches played in Brisbane, followed by two rounds and semi-finals on the Sunshine Coast, with the final to return to Brisbane.

The competition is being contested by 10 teams, with every state and territory represented – and both Victoria and New South Wales fielding two teams.

Each team will play the other four teams in their Pool once in 50-over matches.

The final will be live-streamed on www.nationalchamps.com.au, with the winner of the tournament taking home the Ricky Ponting Cup.

An Australia under-16s squad will be named at the end of the tournament.
