The Sunshine Coast Cricket Association was first formed on 17 October 1903 and was then known as the Moreton Cricket Association, consisting of five teams from Woombye, Nambour, Waratahs, Landsborough and the Chronicle Cricket Club.
On 26 November 1921, the association’s name was changed to the North Coast Cricket Association.
Cricket thrived as a sport on the Coast and in 1928 the association expanded and thereafter became known as the Maroochy Cricket Association
Cricket continued to grow in popularity and participation in the region and in1973 the association was renamed the Sunshine Coast Cricket Association. The association was formed with clubs through from Landsborough in the South to Noosa in the North and as far west as Kenilworth and Maleny.
The association has continued to grow and now includes teams from as far South as Caboolture and North to Gympie.
The association currently boasts up to 74 Senior Teams and 124 Junior Teams as well as its flagship structure in the Brisbane Grade Competition, The Sunshine Coast Scorchers. The Scorchers comprise 1st and 2nd grade teams as well as U19 and Lord’s Taverners.
