Denis Schaefer was born in Mackay 1946 and lived in Sarina as a schoolboy. He went to school at Bakers Creek SS , Sarina SS, and Sarina High In his working life he spent 48years with Australia Post until he retired on 2/10/2009 His postings with Australia Post included Sarina, Dalby,New Zealand, Brisbane and Boonah.He moved to Boonah in 1980 and became involved with Fassifern Juniors. His involvement with Fassifern Junior Cricket Association included the following positions
He moved onto the Fassifern Cricket Association and became involved in the following roles Treasurer for 7 years Delegate the Zone South Coast West Moreton Cricket Council 8 years Australian Cricket Club Boonah Sectary/Treasurer for approx 10 years He was instrumental in the amalgamation of the Senior and Junior zones and took up the position of Treasurer South Coast West Moreton Cricket Council Treasurer for at least 2/3 years before disbanded into SEQC South East Queensland (old zone) Treasurer for 5 years before distributions of boundaries Moreton and South West Districts JCA Treasurer for 5 years before distributions of boundaries Junior Carnival Co-Ordinator for this period During his time with Queensland Junior Cricket he held the position of
On the retirement of Ron Bushby the Treasurer of South Queensland and QCCA, Denis took over from Ron. It was time Ron said , Computers and GST had come along so after 20 years he called it a day. Denis position's in South Queensland Cricket Conference Inc Included
Denis also took on the position of Treasurer of QCCA in 2000 Other positions he continues to be involved with are as follows Queensland Country Cricket Assn

Being involved in all aspects of cricket since 1980 he was recognised in 1991 and 2000 By the Boonah Shire Council
He never played much cricket in younger days, He mainly filled in. Motto then was 6, 4 or duck and he achieved the duck trophy a few times. |
