VALLEY INTO NATIONAL COMPETITION

Monday 8 February 2010

Valley’s lean season took a turn for the better yesterday when the club’s Lord’s Taverner’s Under 17 side qualified for the Gatorade Under 18 Twenty20 Cup.

The young Diehards will travel to Sydney on February 22 for a competition against club sides from the other States and Territories.

They follow in the footsteps of Sandgate-Redcliffe, who reached the final of the inaugural tournament last season before going down to WA club Wanneroo.

Valley won an eight-overs-a-side semi final against Wests at Fehlberg Park yesterday morning, then chased down Beenleigh/Logan’s total of 106 to win the final with four overs to spare.

Josh Dascombe took 3-11 against Wests, including the prized wicket of Sam Truloff, and 2-18 in the final.

Lachlan Busby was Valley’s leading runscorer going into the final, having made an even 100 in three innings for once out.
