The Konica Minolta Queensland Fire have fielded a settled line-up for the bulk of the WNCL season and have made only minor changes for their trip to Canberra this weekend. In-form medium-fast bowler Kirsten Pike will miss the opening T20 against the ACT Meteors on Friday afternoon but will jet into Canberra for the crucial 50-over clash on Saturday. Selena Tainton comes into the 12 in her place, with Pike also selected for the Sunday game. The Fire are sweating on the fitness of solid batter Fran Whittaker, who faces a fitness test before making the trip. Sammy-Jo Johnson is out of the side for the triple-header. The Fire are out of contention for the T20 title but can finish close to the top two if they repeat last year's performance and beat the Meteors in both games of T20. They can seal a finals berth and go a long way towards clinching a double-chance in the finals by winning the one-dayer on Saturday. Teams, T20, Friday 21 December: Jodie Fields (C), Jemma Barsby, Melissa Bulow, Jude Coleman, Holly Ferling, Grace Harris, Beth Mooney, Jessica Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince, Kirby Short, Selena Tainton, Fran Whittaker. 50-over Saturday 22nd December and T20 23rd December: Jodie Fields (C), Jemma Barsby, Melissa Bulow, Jude Coleman, Holly Ferling, Grace Harris, Beth Mooney, Jessica Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince, Kirsten Pike, Kirby Short, Fran Whittaker. |
