Queensland begin their quest for the national country cricket championship with a two-dayer against East Asia Pacific in Bundaberg on Thursday. The Brahmans, who last won the title in 2008-09, will again be led into battle by Ben O’Connell and have a nicely-balanced line-up. They will be looking to improve on their third placing in Geelong last year, where they returned a 3 win-one tie-3 losses record. East Asia Pacific have historically been easybeats but have improved rapidly in the last two years. The 11-day long tournament features a mix of two-day, T20 and one-day games, with the Brahmans other two-day contest against reigning champions NSW on Sunday and Monday. A Country XI will also be selected during the titles to play a day/night match against the Bulls Masters on 12 January. |
