Toombul will claim the Damien Mullins Cup for the overall champion team in the XXXX GOLD Premier Grade competition if they beat Western Suburbs in the final qualifying round of two-day fixtures tomorrow and next Saturday. The Mullins Cup is now presented to the most successful team across the two-day, one-day and T20 competitions prior to the finals, while the two-day premiership will be awarded to the winner of the grand final. Toombul have almost an eight-point lead over University of Queensland, the only team that can overtake them for the overall championship. Uni travel to Ashgrove for a clash against lowly Valley. Just as importantly, the final round of fixtures will determine all places in the top four, with Gold Coast rank long-shots to jump in from fifth. The fast-finishing Dolphins are at home at Kerrydale and will test Sandgate-Redcliffe, who sit just 1.50 points behind top-placed Toombul. The Dolphins regain in-form State rep Greg Moller. Moller needs to score 23 to pass 1000 runs for the season across all forms of the game. Toombul have lost just once in the two-day format this season and the other premiership contenders will be more than happy to not finish fourth and avoid them. Norths currently hold that position and will need to beat the struggling Ispwich-Logan and hope University lose to finish any higher. Norths regain recently State-capped Dom Michael, who still heads the Grade runscoring and needs 14 runs to register the 1000 runs for the summer. University get Pete Forrest and Nathan Reardon back for tomorrow only for their clash with Valley, where a big win could catapult them to the top of the ladder, given they only trail Toombul by five points. Tenth-placed Redlands will look to ensure they avoid the wooden spoon by beating Sunshine Coast at Wellington Point, while Wests – who are in a similar position - face the tough task of beating Toombul. Wynnum-Manly, grand finalists for the last two seasons, need to beat South Brisbane and hope Redlands or Wests lose to avoid the wooden spoon.
