The performances in playing and training by members of the my FootDr Queensland Bulls, Konica Minolta Queensland Fire and Brisbane Heat squads are forming the basis of innovative teaching methods for remote students here and overseas. Queensland Fire & WBBL Heat assistant coach and Female Pathway coach Peter McGiffin recently visited the Brisbane School of Distance Education (BSDE) on the invitation from YR 7 Teacher Zoe Wilkins, to provide information on how QC uses Data and Statistics in Cricket at a High Performance level. He presented to 15 students in the ‘on-line’ class, with students checking in from Canada, Singapore, Thailand, Western Australia, NSW and regional and remote Queensland. Students were given a PowerPoint presentation on the use of the AMS (Athlete Management System), the FairPlay App, Performance Data generated by QC’s Data Analyst Kylie Thomas and how some of that data is used to develop match plans and key performance indicators (KPI’s). Other topics covered included:- 1. Data Gathered on players preseason: 2. Utilised Data by coaching staff on a weekly basis 3. Data Used by players to help their own performances 4. Use of Data by coaching staff when comparing individuals and teams 5. Data used to select representative teams Students will use this knowledge as part of an assessment piece on how to use Data and Statistics to select and manage a Championship Winning Team.
