No stage seems too big for young Sam Heazlett, making a name for himself immediately during his first-class debut scoring 129 and 78. Heazlett finished his first shield season behind Matt Hayden and Graeme Hick as the third-best debut season. His form continued during his BBL debut, hitting a straight six during his first minute at the crease with Chris Lynn. This continued over the next 12 months with impressive knocks for Australia A, Queensland and the Brisbane Heat. These high pressure performances earned him a call up to Australia's ODI squad to tour New Zealand.
