The Queensland Under-19s have made a bright start to their National championship campaign in Adelaide.

Queensland completed a measured four-wicket win over Vic Metro, with a composed 81 not out from Max Clayton and some quick runs from Gold Coast quick Josh Kann (31no) delivering the win in the 41st over.

Clayton's innings was crucial for the Maroons, in chasing down the Vics' total of 9-212.

Wests paceman Blake Edwards (3-47), Kann (3-46) and towering left-armer Matthew Willans (2-18) starred with the ball for the Queenslanders.

Play continues today with Queensland playing NSW Metro, fresh from their record-breaking win over Northern Territory yesterday that featured a double century by Blues captain Ollie Davies.
