With the Tasmanian Tigers resuming on 6-360 this morning, the Bulls were hoping for quick wickets to run through the visitors tail, and they were on their way when Michael Neser struck in the first over of play.
As they had done throughout their first innings however, Tasmania built partnerships to frustrate the Bulls as Matthew Wade brought up his century early in the first session.
Sam Rainbird (57), Jackson Bird (13) and Andrew Feketee (25*) then all scored handy late order runs to get the Tigers to a sizable total of 477.
Brendan Doggett was the chief destroyer for Queensland, taking 5-101, while Michael Neser took 2-89.
In reply the Bulls top three of Matthew Renshaw (37), Joe Burns (49) and Marnus Labuschagne (32) all made starts, before Charlie Hemphrey (48*) and Sam Heazlett (37*) consolidated for the hosts.
In a crucial final session on day three, Hemphrey and Heazlett built an unbeaten 100-run stand for Queensland to push them towards a winnable position at 3-233.
The JLT Sheffield Shield Final will resume on Monday at 9am.
