Allrounder Ben Cutting has earned a recall to the Queensland Bulls squad for the Marsh Cup after a two-year absence.

Cutting last played for Queensland in 2017 and missed the 2018-29 series while playing in overseas T20 competitions ahead of his regular Brisbane Heat BBL commitments.

He and Ashes batsmen Usman Khawaja come into a 13-man Bulls squad for back-to-back matches against Victoria at Junction Oval in Melbourne on Sunday and Tuesday.

The former housemates replace batsman Charlie Hemphrey and injured allrounder Jack Wildermuth.

Wildermuth, player of the match in Queensland’s opening Marsh Cup match win, has a hamstring complaint that is being monitored. Paceman Cameron Gannon also drops out of the original squad of 14 as well.

Cutting is coming off scores of 110 from 57 balls, 98 not out off 54 balls and 41 not out of 17 balls as captain of South Brisbane in the opening three rounds of the Kookaburra One Day series in the Sci-Fleet Motors Premier Cricket competition.

Khawaja will return as captain for the games against Victoria after being rested from the opening two Marsh Cup games won by the Bulls this week at Allan Border Field.
