The Konica Minolta Queensland Fire will call on the core of the championship WBBL Brisbane Heat squad this weekend in Melbourne as they resume their Women’s National Cricket League campaign.
The Heat’s historic victory in the rebel Women’s Big Bash League last weekend over the Sydney Sixers will see a quick turnaround to 50-over cricket with the final two rounds of the WNCL remaining before the Final.
Fourth-placed Queensland will take on Victoria at Junction Oval tomorrow and Western Australia on Sunday at Casey Fields and will need to win both matches to challenge for a top two spot.
They have included the Australian World T20 Cup trio of Jess Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince and Beth Mooney in their squad as well as pace bowler Holly Ferling who missed the first part of the season with a back complaint.
Allrounder Grace Harris has been ruled out with a knee injury sustained during the WBBL semi-final and aggravated in the Final at Drummoyne Oval while ex-Australian batter Jess Duffin is also unavailable due to AFLW commitments after playing the first half of the season with the Fire.
