The Fire will welcome talented Darling Downs product Ruth Johnston to the squad for the first time, with the Ipswich/Logan batting all rounder joining her cousin Ellie in the squad.
Ruth claimed the Kath Smith Medal earlier this month, with the 19-year-old crowned the best and fairest player in the Katherine Raymont Shield in the Sci-Fleet Motors Queensland Premier competition.
She was 13th player for the Fire in their breakthrough WNCL championship win as they claimed the Ruth Preddy Cup for the first time, defeating Victoria in the decider in Melbourne.
The Fire will tackle the coming season without Australian allrounder Delissa Kimmince who announced her retirement at the end of the season.
Sandgate-Redcliffe batter Tess Cooper was delisted in the only other change to the squad.
Fire coach Ashley Noffke said that Kimmince would be missed.
“A player with DK’s skill and experience is hard to replace, let alone the outstanding influence she had on the group off the field,’’ he said.
“But the way our younger players in particular stood up towards the back end of the WNCL is very encouraging and we are confident in the group’s ability for the season ahead.”
The Fire squad will begin their off-season preparations next month.
