Queensland Bulls batsman Charlie Hemphrey has warmed up for the resumption of the Bupa Sheffield Shield season later this month with a fighting century yesterday for the Queensland Academy of Sport in their Toyota Futures League 2nd XI clash with South Australia at Allan Border Field.
While SA paceman Nick Winter produced an impressive 8-58 for the visitors, Hemphrey's 113 was the stand-out with the bat as the QAS scored 219.
Some disciplined pace bowling from Mark Steketee and Cameron Gannon then put the QAS back in the game, as South Australia battled to 6-84 at stumps on the opening day.
Gannon finished with 5-30 from his 13 overs while Steketee had 1-17 from nine overs.
