KFC Local Matters is a grassroots competition where community cricket clubs can win $1,000 worth of gear and a signed Brisbane Heat jersey thanks to KFC.
The competition rewards volunteers from clubs who are doing great things to grow cricket across the state.
The latest winners include David Baird who is considered a local hero at the Runaway Bay Cricket Club. A long-tern and valued member of the club, David's duties have included curating wickets, running the bar, coaching, playing and general operational work.
David's cricketing career includes the distinction of owning the number one cap of Australia's Intellectually Disabled Cricket Team.
October's winner is Melanie Knack from the Sunshine Coast Scorchers Cricket Club. Mel is the heart and soul of the Scorchers and has been instrumental in the development of the club's women's cricket program.
