The Cricket4Every1 program is a joint venture between the Mackay Magpies Cricket Club and Mackay and District Special School, held in consultation with Queensland Cricket, and provides students with a four week course to enjoy cricket in a inclusive, fun and safe environment.
The program has enjoyed substantial support from the Mackay community, with $15,000 raised by local businesses for sponsorship and Cricket4Every1 caps sold at a recent A Grade match between the Magpies and Walkerston.
14 students from the Mackay Special School have undertaken the program, with one subsequently playing with the Magpies Junior club.
The Cricket4Every1 program follows several initiatives in which Mackay has utilised cricket to promote community inclusion and values.
In 2017-18, Mackay Cricket Association were the leading fundraiser in Australia for the McGrath Foundation's Pink Stumps Day, while recently the Moving Mackay Team were the country's leading cricket group for Movember.
