Country Volunteers on the Month:

BARB BARDSLEY – DARLING DOWNS 

Barb is the treasurer and canteen coordinator for the Junior Cricket Association as well as the Vice President of the Gilbert Recreation Association in Goondiwindi. Barb is very generous and kind towards the whole cricket community. She is the first person to arrive and the last person to leave the club every week. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her.

JOEL PRIOR – FNQ

Joel is actively involved with the juniors and seniors at North’s. There has been an increase in junior numbers at club along with the establishment of a ladies team. Joel is assisting coach an U11 side in a newly established competition for this age group. With his role with Cairns Cricket Association he has been a driving force in getting the Cairns clubs to work together with their Friday evening Blast programs. Joel still finds time to play and often scores for the clubs 1st Grade side.

SCOTT KEIRSNOWSKI – CQ

Scott has been one of the key drivers of the Brothers club for many years, playing key roles in supporting and managing both senior and junior teams throughout the club, as well as the brand new Junior and Master Blaster programs. As well as being a key figure in the club, his commitment to the preparation of the wicket and fields at Clinton Sports Grounds ensures that games are played each week at the Brothers home ground. 

JOHN PRICE – MACKAY WHITSUNDAYS

John has been involved with Sarina Junior Cricket as a player and has held various administration roles for over 4 years.

John has a passion for cricket and does an enormous job behind the scenes making sure Sarina Cricket’s members are ready to go each week.

STEVEN CARRARA – NQ

Steve has been the Junior Vice-President of the lone junior cricket club in Ingham for a number of years

He works across multiple fronts at the cricket club to ensure the club continues to operate and provide great experiences for kids. He recently took the time to complete his Representative Coaching Accreditation. Steve also works tirelessly to ensure the facilities are up to scratch.

Steve was recently the driver of a hugely successful day for the club, working with Queensland Cricket Staff to host the first Cricket Blast School Cup in the region at the club grounds. He also worked with Woolworths to provide free fruit and sausages for the 150 kids who took part on the day. Steve pitched in to help umpire on the day, and the experience offered has seen registrations rise in all age groups this season.

PETER BAKER – WIDE BAY

Peter is Junior Vice President of Hervey Bay Cricket Association, coach of the Hervey Bay U/12`s Representative team, U/14`s club team, he organized and facilitated the Winter Cricket competition which saw competitors from right across the Wide Bay participating. When Peter isn’t undertaking one of these activities you will find him preparing wickets, maintaining the grounds or even lending a hand with the Junior Blaster program.

Metro Volunteers on the Month:

DONNA CAIRNS - BEARs

Donna is more than just club President at Muddies, she is actively involved in the running of the club’s Woolworths Cricket Blast programs and helps run the canteen and BBQ. She is always extending a warm welcome to the community into the Muddies home and has a great working relationship with CUA which has seen her club receive some fantastic financial kickbacks as part of the CUA Community Champions scheme. 

CLINTON KEENAN - BRISBANE NORTH
Clinton runs The Lakes Junior Blasters program every Friday night and help set up the Master Blasters Hub Model they run with Redcliffe City CC. If any of the coaches are not available for the Master Blasters teams, he willingly helps that team, so no one is at a disadvantage.  He has liaised with all the parents about their Junior Blaster packs and gear as well as the Master Blasters gear. To top it off he also coaches one of the Under 10 teams in the Stage 1 competition on Saturday mornings.  

DAVID O’DONNELL - GOLD COAST
Dave has done a fantastic job with rising junior participation numbers at the club and has been a huge reason behind the clubs first all-girls junior team in the under 10’s this year. Dave is coaching the under 11’s team at the club as well as driving Woolworths Cricket Blast participants at the club.

BARRY WHITTAKER – MSW
Barry is involved in many crucial areas of the club to ensure all kids have a fantastic experience at the club. Barry is the Woolworths Cricket Blast Coordinator, Junior registrar and also head coach of the under 13 Division 1 team.

LEANNE MCALLISTER – SUNSHINE COAST
Leanne has dual roles at the club, volunteering as the Junior Coordinator, as well as the Grants Officer, spending plenty of time putting together applications for funding to continually improve the club’s facilities. In addition to her volunteer roles at the club, she is also the U/14 age-group coordinator for the Sunshine Coast Cricket Association.

ROD HAMMEL - SEQ
After well over 30 years of service to Cricket in the region Rod’s passion is as strong as ever and on top of his current role as Club President, he can be found maintaining the extremely well regarded Dauth Park wicket. Rod is also Senior Coordinator for the Logan District Association which has seen a large growth in playing numbers this season and has been an influential figure on the SEQ board for many years.
