The opening day of the important JLT Sheffield Shield match between the my FootDr Queensland Bulls and WA Warriors was washed out today with just 2.3 overs of play possible.
The Bulls were sent into bat after WA won the toss and elected to bowl. Batsman Will Bosisto was the WA 12th man while young paceman Brendan Doggett was named 12th man for the Bulls as the first season quick has his workload managed ahead with two more matches potentially in the season.
No play was possible in the first session, as light but persistent rain keep the covers on for the majority of the morning.
When play got underway after the scheduled lunch break, Queensland openers Lachlan Pfeffer and Matthew Renshaw were untroubled in the brief opening spell, with Pfeffer earning 3 runs from his first scoring shot before the rain returned.
The match will resume tomorrow at 9am, weather permitting, with extended hours of play in place for the remaining three days.
Meanwhile Bulls batsman Peter Forrest scored his third century on the trot for the Queensland Academy of Sport as they took on ACT/NSW Country in Canberra in their final Toyota Futures League match of the season.
Forrest hit 106 as the QAS was dismissed for 250 in reply to the home side's total of 306.
