Peirson, who has captained the Bulls and Brisbane Heat with success, had been two days into his official Queensland pre-season preparations when the call came for him to journey to Sri Lanka as the replacement for Victoria's Peter Hanscomb who has returned to Melbourne for family reasons.

He will link with fellow Maroons Matthew Renshaw, Mark Steketee and Matthew Kuhnemann in the Australia A side that will play two 50-over games and two four-day matches in Colombo and Hambantota.
