The Queensland Academy of Sport has retained the Syd Gregory Cup after completing an outright win today over the NSW 2nd XI at Blacktown in their Toyota Futures League match.

The Syd Gregory Cup was originally contested more than 55 years ago between Queensland and NSW at Colts level, and has since been held on an annual basis between the two States' 2nd XI teams. The QAS were th3e current holders coming into the match. The Cup

After being set 437 to win, NSW made a gallant effort in chasing the target today, eventually dismissed for 399.

Paceman Cameron Gannon finished with eight wickets for the match, taking three today, while spinner Jason Floros claimed three. Returning pace bowler Ronan McDonald also took two wickets.

The win will lift the QAS up the Futures League ladder after losing their last match late last month against Victoria at Allan Border Field.
