The Carl Rackemann Indoor Centre was officially unveiled at the Gabba today, named in recognition to the fast-bowling stalwart following a lifetime of commitment to cricket.

Rackemann took 489 wickets in 115 First Class and 46 One Day games for Queensland, while also taking 121 wickets in 12 Tests and 52 One Day Internationals for Australia.

His career in maroon spanned from 1979 to 1996 and he was a member of the Queensland Bulls team that famously won the Sheffield Shield for the first time in 1995.

His time in cricket has continued in coaching, including a stint as the Zimbabwe national coach, and in the media where he is a regular on Macquarie Sports Radio's cricket coverage.

The refurbishment of the Gabba nets was made possible through a $250,000 investment from Stadiums Queensland, with the development done by Gabba Sporting Products.

The unveiling of the nets is a fitting tribute to one of Queensland's great players
