One of the country's most promising wicket-keeper/batters, 21-year-old Beth Mooney is already an Australian Southern Stars representative. The Hervey Bay product will keep this season for the Fire in the WT20 series with former Australian captain Jodie Fields handing over the gloves to her protege to enhance her future national selection prospects. Mooney was a member of the victorious Southern Stars squad that won the World T20 title in Bangladesh earlier this year. A top order bat, the left-hander has been a prolific scorer for the Fire since making her debut in 2010-11 when she was still at high school. She has scored a century for the Shooting Stars (effectively the Australian Development side) against New Zealand A in 2012.
