Congratulations to Michael Childs from Moggill Cricket Club!

For many years, Michael has been a driving force behind the club's success and longevity, serving as a pillar of enthusiasm and support for aspiring cricket players. His unparalleled knowledge of the game and unwavering passion for ensuring the enjoyment of young cricketers make him an invaluable asset to the club.

Michael's commitment to fostering a positive cricketing experience is evident in his embodiment of the QC approach, emphasizing that cricket should be played for enjoyment. Despite the challenges faced by a smaller club, Michael's can-do attitude prevails as he tirelessly works to improve club facilities and opportunities for players year after year. He played a pivotal role in securing funding for the future upgrade of the Moggill SportsPark complex, ensuring junior cricketers have access to top-notch facilities to further their development and enjoyment of the game.

Moreover, Michael demonstrates remarkable enthusiasm for promoting female participation in cricket. When faced with a shortage of players from another club, Michael re-selected teams to ensure 7 junior females from another club could get a game, showcasing his dedication to growing the game and providing opportunities for all.

In addition to his numerous responsibilities within the club, Michael serves as the go-to contact for QC staff, handling everything from coach education to governance requirements with efficiency and expertise. His infectious personality has attracted numerous families to the club, ensuring a bright future for the cricket program for years to come.

Parents of Moggill cricketers echo their gratitude for Michael's tireless efforts, with many expressing that playing cricket at Moggill is the highlight of their child's week. Michael's impact on junior cricket in the MSW region has been nothing short of fantastic, and his positive influence is sure to continue for many years to come. His dedication and passion make him a truly deserving recipient of the Volunteer of the Year award, and he remains an absolute pleasure to work with and support.

The centre circle represents the Gabba, alongside other water holes which used to be near the ground. 87 black strokes on red earth represent the wickets taken by Aboriginal great, Eddie Gilbert who played 23 games for Queensland.
