Congratulations to Brad Doolan, from Souths Mackay Cricket Club!

In Mackay Whitsundays, Brad Doolan has been honored with the Volunteer of the Year award for his exceptional contributions to the Souths Sharks Cricket Club. Serving as the volunteer Junior Coordinator, Brad's dedication to the club's youth cricket programs sets him apart.

At every cricket event, Brad's presence ensures smooth operations and a welcoming atmosphere for all participants. His innovative initiatives breathe new life into the club, from weekly player awards accompanied by pizza vouchers sourced from local businesses to treats like lollipops after matches for the Master Blasters. Brad even secured free tickets to the WBBL game at Harrup Park, providing regional kids with rare opportunities.

Moreover, Brad's dedication extends beyond the field. His efficient communication system keeps parents informed and ensures optimal team participation. Even amidst personal complications, Brad's unwavering support shines through, exemplified by his late-night assistance with registrations.

Under Brad's guidance, the Souths Sharks Cricket Club has witnessed a surge in junior talent and engagement, fostering a vibrant and inclusive community. His boundless enthusiasm and selfless contributions make him an invaluable asset to the club and a role model for volunteers everywhere. As one member aptly puts it, "Nothing ever seems too hard for Dools," a testament to Brad's indomitable spirit and the Sharks' fortune to have him leading their junior coaching team. In Brad Doolan, the Souths Sharks have found not only a coach but a caring, engaged, and fun mentor, enriching the lives of countless young cricketers in the region.

Queensland Cricket's indigenous artwork was collaboratively designed by Queensland Fire player and proud Kunja woman Mikayla Hinkley and Brisbane Indigenous artist, Delores McDonald (“Aunty Delly”).

The centre circle represents the Gabba, alongside other water holes which used to be near the ground. 87 black strokes on red earth represent the wickets taken by Aboriginal great, Eddie Gilbert who played 23 games for Queensland.
