Queensland Bulls paceman Callum Vidler will help spearhead the Queensland Under-19 attack in the Australian championships in Adelaide from 12-19 December.
Vidler Links With Qld U-19 Squad
The Queensland and Brisbane Heat contracted player has recently returned from an off-season groin injury and the Under-19 titles will enable the teenage quick to further build his bowling workloads.
A member of the Australian Under-19 squad that won the ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa at the start of the year, Vidler made his first class debut for the Bulls at the end of last season.
Vidler will play some of the matches during the championships, with Queensland taking a squad of 14 players away.
Queensland has named the Northern Queensland pace duo of Ben Ramsbotham (Townsville) and Seth McGinty (Cairns) for the tournament, with Cairns batter Aidan Firman making up a trio of regionally-based players.
Sandgate-Redcliffe batter Steven Hogan, a century-maker during the Australian Under-19 squad’s recent tour of India, will captain the Queensland side after playing in the Under-17 team last season.
There are four players returning from last season’s Under-19 team that finished as runners-up and two from the Under-17s, including Hogan and Ipswich's Charlie Lachmund.
South Brisbane paceman Luke Wegner, Vidler, Norths allrounder Alexander Procopis and University of Queensland spinner Brayden Meegama will look to take that experience and lay the foundations for a successful campaign.
