Redlands Tigers have been promoted into Girls Under 16 competition for the 2025/26 season, completing the full complement of all 12 Premier Clubs now competing in Women’s Premier Cricket.
Women’s Premier Cricket To Include All 12 Premier Clubs
This moment marks a new era for Queensland Premier Cricket.
The inclusion of all 12 clubs demonstrates the growth and strengthened sustainability of Women’s cricket in South-East Queensland. It ensures that young women throughout the region now have access to high-quality development pathways and a strong, competitive competition.
For Redlands, the promotion is the result of a long-term strategic focus on growing the women’s game in the Bayside region. Over the past year, the club has achieved key milestones within its Female Development Plan, laying the foundation for sustainable success and this well-earned elevation.
Nick Stuart, Queensland Cricket’s Head of Elite Cricket Operations, praised the Tigers’ progress.
“Redlands has demonstrated strong growth in the development of young players and pathways within the Bayside region, as well as the stability of female cricket leaders guiding their program.”
“This next step is really exciting for their region and reflects the club’s dedication and willingness to engage with their Female Action Plan journey.”
Redlands President Sean Lloyd shared his pride in the achievement.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be promoted to Women’s Premier Cricket. This milestone is a huge achievement for our club and an important step towards expanding opportunities for young female cricketers across our region.”
“As part of our Female Development Plan, we have plans with the Queensland Government to deliver a new change room facility at Ron Field Oval and install game lighting at Peter Burge Oval, which will support the sustainable growth of female cricket in the future.”
Redlands’ entry will expand the Girls Under 16 competition to twelve teams in the 2025/26 season, following Toombul’s addition in April.
