Former Queensland Fire and WBBL Brisbane Heat captain Kirby Short has resigned from the Queensland Cricket Board of Directors.
Kirby Short Departs
Short, who joined the Board in September 2023, informed Directors last week that she would step down to take on a new role with another sporting organisation.
QC Chair Kirsten Pike thanked Short for her insights and dedication during her time on the Board.
“We wish Kirby all the best as she takes on a new role,’’ she said. “It is always perceptive having the views of a recent player on the Board and we thank Kirby for sharing her insights and for her advice and contribution to the Board in this time.”
Short thanked her fellow Directors for their support during her stint on the Board.
“Whilst my opportunity was brief, I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Director at Queensland Cricket. It was a privilege to have the chance to contribute to the growth of the game in our state following the playing phase of my career. I wish the Board, senior management, players and staff every success and look forward to staying connected to the organisation.”
“I am excited by the opportunity that lies ahead and thank Queensland Cricket for their support,” Short said.
Short captained Queensland during a career that spanned from 2005 to 2020 and led the WBBL Brisbane Heat to back-to-back championships.
Holding a Master of Education (Leadership/Management), she has been a schoolteacher, deputy principal and principal and more recently, executive coach and corporate consultant in leadership and high performance.
Short has also worked in cricket commentary for Channel 7 and FOX Sports.
