Knott To Lead Aust A

Queensland allrounder Charli Knott will take on the captaincy of Australia A against India A in August following her selection today for the multi-format series in Queensland.

Knott, who recently concluded a successful English playing stint with Hampshire that saw her excel at T20 and One Day level, was named alongside fellow Queenslanders Sianna Ginger amd Lucy Hamilton for the series.

Knott, a two-time Jodie Purves Medallist as Queenslabnd's best women's player, tasted national recognition last season when named in Australia’s T20 tour of New Zealand, replacing injured allrounder Ash Gardner in the national squad for the final two matches.

Ginger played for Australia 'A' earlier this year while Australian Under-19 captain Lucy Hamilton will make her Australia 'A' debut.

Current Australian captain Alyssa Healy and vice-captain Tahlia McGrath will also feature in the upcoming series.

National selectors have named three separate squads for the series that will feature a trio of T20s in Mackay as well as three 50-over matches at ian Healy Oval at Shaw Road and a four-day clash at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

Knott will further add to her leadership credentials by captaining the T20 and four-day sides, with McGrath to take the reins in the 50-over format.

Australian Women’s Team assistants Dan Marsh (T20 and 50-over) and Gavan Twining (four-day) have been named head coaches, with Scott Prestwidge their assistant.
