Key Partnership Renewed

Queensland Cricket has renewed its unique partnership with the Bulls Masters, with the united stance set to further nurture the growth and strength of the game throughout the State though until 2028.

The renewal will see the partnership continue to deliver shared benefits since formally coming together for the first time in 2019.

Queensland Cricket has committed to a partnership with the Bulls Masters over the next three years, with the Bulls Masters continuing to undertake coaching and development activities in regional Queensland as well as working with Queensland Cricket’s Elite Cricket department and Premier Cricket clubs.

QC CEO Terry Svenson said the continuation of the partnership between the two bodies was a major win for cricket.

“Queensland Cricket and Bulls Masters are strongly linked through their membership that consists of past male and female Queensland players,’’ he said.

“We complement each other in many areas, and Queensland Cricket is grateful for the wonderful work that the past players do under the auspices of the Bulls Masters organisation.”

“They have been heavily involved regionally with cricket, along with also assisting Premier Grade Clubs with Coaching and Fund Raising and this regular presence aligns with Queensland Cricket’s strategic aim to advocate for elite cricket content in regional centres where we can. The partnership also complements our day-to-day business in ensuring cricket is a sport for all.”

“Having a strong, aligned relationship assists both bodies to make a real difference to helping our volunteers keep the grassroots flourishing. Having the Bulls Masters members and our QC field staff working together is a wonderful resource for cricket to tap into,” Svenson said.

Bulls Masters Managing Director Jimmy Maher, one of the founders of the organisation in 2010, thanked Queensland Cricket for its commitment to its former players.

“There were a lot of past players who were looking to stay involved in the game and invariably, nearly all of us had benefitted in some way or another from insights and advice from current or former Queensland players when we were coming though,’’ he said.

“It made lots of sense to come together as a group and use our knowledge and profile to help the game. Many of us were from the country and so we had a natural focus on regional centres and communities, and that has been a productive area for us to work together with Queensland Cricket.”

“We also appreciate the importance of Premier Cricket in Brisbane and have enjoyed assisting the Clubs by providing past players to coach at the Clubs and assisting the Clubs to fundraise, taking the load off the volunteers.

“We’re very proud that we can give opportunities to regional cricketers to play at the Gabba through the Final of our Country Challenge series, and equally, to take legends of our game to the bush to inspire kids and raise funds for charitable causes and local communities.”

“We’re delighted to be associated with the elite Queensland teams. It’s been great to have the Bulls Masters logo and ethos on the playing and training kit of the teams over the years, and we are grateful to the QC Board and Management for the chance to be closely involved with the current stars from the Bulls, Fire and Heat teams,” Maher said.

The Bulls Masters were founded to foster and develop cricket throughout Queensland by utilising retired male and female Queensland cricketers as well as providing community support and assisting charities along the way.

Since 2014, they have invested $3,371,656 into the Country Challenge and Youth Cup competitions and cricket development through coaching and school visits.
