BULLS ADD DUO TO SQUAD | Jeh, Kerr Link With Queensland

The Queensland Bulls have added former NSW allrounder Hayden Kerr and Australia ‘A’ spinner Zanden Jeh to their squad for the coming season.

Kerr, 29, comes into the squad to fill the spot left vacant last month when Queensland Cricket granted a release to Ben McDermott to move to Tasmania for personal reasons.

The allrounder was not contracted by NSW during the off-season and will move to Brisbane shortly to join the Bulls pre-season preparations.

A physiotherapist, Kerr spent time playing for the Gold Coast Dolphins in the KFC Queensland Premier Cricket competition in 2021.

A member of the Sydney Sixers squad in the KFC Big Bash League, the 29-year-old has played first class and List A cricket for NSW, Derbyshire and Glamorgan.

A left-arm pace bowler and right-handed middle order batter, Kerr has signed a two-year deal with his recruitment bolstering the Bulls One-Day and Sheffield Shield depth.

Jeh, from the South Brisbane club, comes onto the Bulls list after earning a State contact through his efforts with Australia ‘A’ in the series against Sri Lanka ‘A’ in Darwin that finished this week.

The 22-year-old left-arm spinner was chosen for Australia ‘A’ despite not previously representing Queensland in either the Sheffield Shield or Domestic One Day Cup.

However under Cricket Australia contracting guidelines, by playing a one-dayer and two first class games in the ‘A’ series this month, he was automatically upgraded to a State contract and subsequently added to the Queensland list.

In the drawn ’A’ series match earlier this week, Jeh delivered a mighty 43 overs to finish with 3-132.

Kerr made his NSW debuts in 2019 in limited overs cricket and 2021 in the Shield competitions.

Queensland Cricket General Manager – Elite Cricket Joe Dawes welcomed the duo to the Bulls squad.

“We are very excited to have Zanden on our list after he narrowly missed out on a contract this season,” he said.

“He no doubt learnt a lot and performed really well in Darwin, and I know the coaches are excited at having him in and around the group fulltime.”

“With Liam Guthrie relocating to England, Hayden will reinforce our pace bowling depth and add his left-arm variety to the squad.

“He’s a talented all-round cricketer who has had a few injury setbacks in the past, so we’re excited to provide an environment for him to showcase his skill,’’ Dawes said.

Queensland has 19 full contracts and three rookie contracts on top of nationally contracted players Xavier Bartlett, Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne.
