T20 Max Joins Seven

The KFC T20 Max competition will scale new heights as it makes a fresh broadcast home on the Seven Network this month.

For the first time since its inception in 2022, the KFC T20 Max competition will be streamed live and free on 7plus Sport, in a major boost for Queensland Premier Cricket.

Selected men’s and women’s matches will be broadcast through 7plus Sport across the competition which gets underway on Wednesday 20 August and continues through until Saturday 6 September.

The breakthrough agreement with Seven was welcomed by Pete Lock, Queensland Cricket’s General Manager – Commercial, Marketing & Corporate Affairs.

“The KFC T20 Max continues to build its reputation as an integral element in Queensland Cricket’s elite cricket framework and an exciting kick-off of the cricket season in Queensland, and we’re delighted to see it being shown on 7plus Sport this season,’’ he said.

“The opportunity to showcase contracted players from State and Big Bash teams alongside Queensland Premier Cricket players is an attractive one and with Seven being the home of cricket, it will be a thrill to have games on 7plus Sport for the first time.”

“The number of players who have gained valuable exposure and experience in the KFC T20 Max has created a genuine pathway to the Big Bash, and it is very encouraging to know that the Brisbane Heat will fill its final contract spots for the BBL and WBBL through performances in the competition.”

“It has been a great thrill to see the likes of Josh Brown, Spencer Johnson, Nikhil Chaudhary, Emma de Broughe, Sianna Ginger, Nathan McSweeney, Lloyd Pope, Paddy Dooley and Jack Wood gain starts in the BBL and WBBL over the past few seasons.’’ Lock said.

Seven Network Head of Digital – Sport, Kirsty Bradmore said: “We’re thrilled to welcome the KFC T20 Max competition to 7plus, expanding our cricket offering and showcasing some of the best up-and-coming talent from across the country – all live and free.”

“With the addition of the KFC T20 Max to 7plus, fans now have access to even more high-quality domestic cricket, alongside our world-class coverage of the BBL, WBBL, men’s and women’s international matches all in one place.”

The KFC T20 Max has provided an ideal T20 pathway, attracting male and female players from overseas and interstate and strengthening KFC Queensland Premier Cricket club line-ups.

As well as inspiring a reinvigorated Premier Cricket Competition, the competition has provided a productive launching pad for aspiring T20 cricketers to showcase their talent and catch the attention of W/BBL teams.

The Brisbane Heat will look to performances in the KFC T20 Max for their remaining contract spots on their BBL|15 list while selections in the WBBL Heat squad that will play in the developmental T20 Spring Challenge series will also be drawn from the competition.

The tournament has previously featured contracted players from Queensland and across Australia, including Usman Khawaja, Jess Jonassen, Mitch Owen, Marnus Labuschagne, Matthew Kuhnemann, Jake Weatherald, Elyse Villani and Nicola Carey.

Premier clubs will announce their playing squads shortly.
