Sea Eagles Celebrate T20 Max Title

Wynnum-Manly has celebrated the club's first KFC T20 Max women's title with an exciting win over Western Suburbs tonight at Allan Border Field.

In the club's 65th year, the Sea Eagles strode to victory off the back of an inspired innings from first-season recruit Laura Harris, wth the renowned hitter producing a trademark performance.

Chasing Wests' total of 6-153, Wynnum was teetering at 3-46 with semi-final hero Elyse Villani back in the sheds, before Harris took on the Bulldogs attack.

Already buoyed by an impactful return of 2-21 from four overs in the Wests innings, Harris peppered Allan Border Field with boundaries, hitting two big sixes and 13 fours in her 31-ball innings.

Her batting onslaught took Wynnum to 4-125 and in sight of the target.

The Sea Eagles middle and lower order then withstood the pressure of the final chase to win off the second last ball with Eloise Schabe (14no) and Clodagh Ryall (6no) getting them home at 7-154.

Earlier, Wests allrounder Lily Bassingthwaighte had led the batting charge to finish 56no from 52 balls. The scoring was kicked along by quickfire efforts from Ruby Strange (21 off 12) and interstate recruit Annie O'Neil (21 from 15) and Holly Ferling (16).

But Wynnum's attack, led by Hurricanes allrounder Hayley Silver-Holmes (2-26), Harris, and another frugal effort from Ryal (0-17 from 4 overs), backed by a composed fielding performance kept Wests from powering to a bigger score.

The Wests attack strived to minimise the Harris attack in the Wynnum runchase.

Another fine performance by promising young pace bowler Filippa SueSee (3-20 from 4 overs) and a tight spell from Ferling (1-21) kept them in the hunt until Wynnum-Manly claimed the win.
