Fresh from a match-winning performance in the first class arena that also secured a personal milestone, leg-spinner Mitch Swepson will add captaincy to his kit bag for tomorrow’s One Day Cup clash with South Australia in Adelaide.
Match Winner Swepson To Lead Way
Swepson took a career best 6-104 as part of his second ever 10-wicket haul that delivered an outright win over the defending Shield champions at the Adelaide Oval yesterday.
In achieving that feat, Swepson also went past former Queensland and Australian leg-spinner Trevor Hohns to claim the record for most career first class wickets by a Queensland spin bowler.
Hohns had 205 wickets from 115 games for Queensland, while Swepson now has 210 from 71 games for the Bulls.
The 32-year-old will again add captaincy to his call sheet tomorrow after taking on the role last summer for the first time.
Swepson’s leadership appointment is one of a host of changes for the Queensland limited overs squad ahead of tomorrow’s game.
There are five new faces to the side that lost a high-scoring clash with ladder leaders Tasmania two weeks ago.
Regular captain Marnus Labuschage, Matt Renshaw and Xavier Bartlett are on One Day International duties, allrounder Jack Wildermuth is managing a mild hamstring complaint and spinner Jack Sinfield has been omitted after playing in the outright Sheffied Shield win over SA yesterday.
Into the squad for the first time this season are pace bowlers Mark Steketee, Benji Floros and Tom Whitney and top order batters Angus Lovell and Max Bryant.
If chosen in the starting side, Floros would make his List A debut for Queensland.
Steketee (hamstring) and Whitney (ankle) have been included after recovering from pre-season injuries.
Queensland has won two of its three matches so far this season.
Tomorrow’s match will be streamed live on Kayo, cricket.com.au and the CricketLive App.

In the Shield match that finished yesterday, the Bulls strode to a commanding seven-wicket win over South Australia.
Swepson ran through the hosts' tail on Saturday to have them all out for 308 in their second innings, leaving Queensland a fourth-innings chase of 139.
Usman Khawaja fell for a duck and Labuschagne was lbw for 18 following his first-innings century, but Lovell (72no off 115 deliveries) ensured the Bulls won easily.
The win lifted them into second spot on the ladder after two games, with their next Shield appointment against Steve Smith and the NSW Blues at the Gabba later this month.
