BULLS RETURN TO GABBA | Squad Named For Blues Shield Clash

The Queensland Bulls will welcome back Australian ODI batter Matthew Renshaw for their Sheffield Shield clash against NSW at the Gabba from Tuesday.

Queensland has made four changes to the squad that defeated defending champions South Australia outright last week in Adelaide.

Pace spearhead Michael Neser will miss the game as part of his Queensland player management plan, while hamstring complaints have sidelined pace bowler Mark Steketee and allrounder Jack Wildermuth.

Wildermuth is making solid progress towards a return in the Shield game against WA in Perth from 11 November.

Spinner Jack Sinfield and batter Angus Lovell, who finished 72no in the second innings against SA, have been omitted.

Gurinder Sandhu is also returning from a hamstring injury and was unavailable for selection for the Shield game while fellow quick Tom Whitney is continuing his comeback from off-season ankle surgery and played Premier Cricket for Wests this weekend.

Included in the Queensland Shield squad for the first time is former NSW allrounder Hayden Kerr and Norths paceman Sam Skelly, while allrounder James Bazley has been included for the first time since 2023.

Kerr has previously played nine first class games for NSW before relocating to Queensland during the winter to take up a contract with the Bulls.

If chosen in the starting side, he would make his Shield debut for Queensland.

Skelly, 25, moved to Brisbane from Canberra during the off-season and played with Norths in the KFC T20 Max.

A right-arm pace bowler, he has previously played Premier Grade cricket in Sydney and Toyota Second XI cricket for the ACT Comets.

Skelly claimed six wickets for the match in his Qld Second XI debut in their win over SA last month.

If chosen in the starting side, he would make his Shield debut.

Bazley, who has played 13 first games, last played Shield cricket for Queensland in 2023.

The match will be the first of two first class games played at the Gabba prior to the Second Ashes Test from 4 December, with Queensland also hosting Victoria in a day/night Shield match from 22-25 November.

This week’s game will be streamed live through Kayo, cricket.com.au and the CricketLive App.
