Queensland have included four recent Australian representatives in their State Under-19 squad for the National championships in Perth next month.
Under-19 Squad Named For Nationals
Sandgate-Redcliffe batter Steven Hogan, Valley batter Jayden Draper and pace bowlers Charlie Lachmund (Ipswich, pictured) and Ben Gordon (Sunshine Coast) will lead the charge for the maroons at the Australian titles from December 1-8.
Queensland, which finished third last season, have four players returning from last year’s squad and have included four graduates from the Queensland Under-17 squad that were runners-up last year.
The Australian quartet were all in action at the start of the season against the touring Indian Under-19 team, with Draper producing an eye-catching century in the Youth ODI at Ian Healy Oval.
Draper, named in the Team of the Tournament following the National Under-19 championships last season, hit the third fastest Youth ODI century of all time with a 65-ball ton.
He finished with 107 runs from 72 balls, with five sixes and eight fours.
The Queensland squad named include a host of strong performers in the KFC Queensland Premier Cricket competition.
Hogan, who scored a century earlier in the year for Australia during their Under-19 tour of India, is currently 97no for Sandgate-Redcliffe after the first day of their match against South Brisbane.
Wynnum-Manly allrounder Harley Malpass scored his maiden first grade century on Saturday with 117 for the Sea Eagles against Toombul, while bayside contemporary Lachlan McClure picked up his first five-wicket haul in the top grade for Redlands against Sunshine Coast.
Toowoomba product Lachmund was also in the action, taking 5-62 for Ipswich against Valley.
