Queensland defeated South Australia and Tasmania in their opening matches at the championshps which are being played across the Central Coast, Newcastle and the Hunter region.

Running from today, the Championships will feature nine teams playing a combination of 50-over and Twenty20 matches, with the Final to be held at Newcastle No.1 Sports Ground on Monday, 22 December.

New South Wales Metro enter as defending champion following its title last summer and will be competing for a fourth title in a row, but will have to overcome competition from the ACT, New South Wales Country, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria Country, Victoria Metro and Western Australia.

Selectors will be keeping a close eye on proceedings, with an Under 19 Tri-Series featuring Australia, England and Sri Lanka to be played in Queensland in April. The series will feature a combination of 50-over and Twenty20 matches, offering invaluable international experience for Australia’s emerging under-19 players.
