Queensland Cricket has wrapped up a successful week of junior girls cricket clinics across the Mackay & Whitsundays region, delivering fun, skill-based opportunities for young cricketers to get involved in the game.
Junior Girls Cricket Clinics Make a Splash in Mackay & Whitsundays
Held over the course of last week, the clinics were designed to introduce girls to cricket in a welcoming and inclusive environment, while also supporting existing players to stay engaged and sharpen their skills during the summer school holidays.
Participants ranged from first-time players picking up a bat or ball for the very first time, through to experienced junior cricketers keen to keep their momentum going over the break.
Across multiple sessions, Queensland Cricket coaches focused on developing fundamental cricket skills, while placing a strong emphasis on enjoyment, confidence-building and participation.
The clinics also provided a valuable pathway for girls in the region to continue their involvement in cricket at club and school level in the new year.
The initiative forms part of Queensland Cricket’s ongoing commitment to growing the female game, particularly in regional communities, by creating accessible entry points and meaningful development opportunities for young girls.
Queensland Cricket would like to acknowledge and thank WARD for their support of the program.
WARD continues to play an important role in supporting female cricket initiatives across the state, including grassroots participation programs such as these clinics.
Their partnership also extends to the Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League and the Queensland Fire, helping to support the elite women’s pathway.
With strong participation and positive feedback from players and families alike, the Mackay & Whitsundays clinics highlighted the continued growth and enthusiasm for girls' cricket in regional Queensland.
Queensland Cricket looks forward to building on this momentum and delivering more opportunities for young girls to get involved and stay involved in the game.
