Maroons Quartet Set For Internationals
The Wests trio of wicket-keeper Chelsea Sonter, leg-spinner Ayaka Stafford and allrounder Flilippa SueSee were all members of the Queensland Under-19 squad (pictured above) that won the National championships earlier in the season, while Valley batter Alya Johnson played in the Queensland Under-16 team that also won the national titles.
The 14-player squad chosen by Cricket Australia will contest the Under 19 Women’s Tri-Series against Sri Lanka and England to be held in Brisbane and Gold Coast from March 30 – April 18.
Players named in the squad will be eligible for selection at the next ICC Under 19 Women’s World Cup, which will be held in 2027.
The team will play four T20 and two one-day games across the series, as well as one practice match.
SueSee made the Team of the Tournament after the Under-19 titles while Stafford, who has represented Japan at internatonal level, captained the Queensland Under-16 team.
