The Queensland Fire will take on arch rivals NSW for the second year in a row for their chance to win the Ruth Preddy Cup after booking their place in the Women's National Cricket League Final in Sydney on Saturday.
Fire Set For Final Rematch
The Fire's bonus point and net run-rate boosting win over Victoria on Saturday proved decisive, ensuring that third-placed Western Australia would have needed a mighty win over the ACT Meteors when the two sides met in Perth last night.
Instead, the Meteors withstood the home team's fervent efforts, clinching a 14-run victory last night at the WACA to ensure Queensland finished in second spot.
It sets up a repeat of last year's decider, won by NSW after Queensland had hosted the Final at Allan Border Field.
The Fire will finalise their squad later this week, with several members already celebrating a title after Western Suburbs claimed the Katherine Raymont Shield yesterday.
Queensand allrounders Grace Harris, Ruby Strange and Lilly Bassingthwaighte all featured in the Premiership win, backing up 24 hours after their WNCL victory over Victoria.
