Following an extensive recruitment process as part of Queensland Cricket's continued commitment to strengthening its high-performance system, Queensland Cricket is pleased to announce the appointment of Bennett King as General Manager – High Performance.

Bennett King is certainly no stranger to Queensland Cricket, having already made a significant impact during his previous tenure between 2019 and 2023.

His leadership and expertise during that period helped shape our high-performance environment and contributed to a sustained era of success.

It’s great to see Bennett returning to Queensland Cricket, bringing with him a legacy that uniquely positions him to lead the next phase of our performance evolution.

He has been working in leadership and high-performance roles for the past two years, including being part of the Australian Institute of Sport Mentorship Program to Guide Future Coaching Leaders.

Last year, King was one of 36 sports leaders chosen from Australia's leading high-performance coaches to work with the AIS to help shape the next generation of coaches in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Queensland Cricket CEO Terry Svenson welcomed King’s appointment.

“Bennett returns to Queensland Cricket as an experienced and highly respected leader in high-performance environments. To welcome him back at this point in our journey is a significant moment,” he said.

In his role, King will lead Queensland Cricket’s High Performance function, overseeing elite men’s and women’s programs, pathway development and performance services.

His focus will be on strengthening alignment, lifting standards and ensuring Queensland remains a consistent leader in Australian cricket.

“As a coach of Queensland during a highly successful era, Bennett built a reputation for clear thinking, strong planning and strategic growth. He further strengthened these capabilities in his previous high-performance role, contributing to the evolution of our elite cricket and pathways framework,” Svenson said.

"His appointment will strengthenirelationships with domestic and international cricket stakeholders and bringing greater thought leadership and innovation to our programs to achieve a competitive advantage."

“We’re delighted he has agreed to take on this role and look forward to welcoming him back to Allan Border Field as we continue preparations for the upcoming season.”

Queensland Cricket remains firmly focused on the future, with King’s appointment reinforcing a clear and deliberate approach to driving standards, accountability and connected performance environments.
