QC Backs Adopt-A-Cop Scheme

Queensland Cricket and the Queensland Police Service have again combined to deliver a joint initiative aimed at tackling youth crime and fostering community values.

The Adopt-A-Cop Cricket Blast Program was launched last year at Waterford West State School and has now been taken up in Townsville.

The program, funded by the Queensland Cricket Foundation, offers an educational and sporting experience designed to engage students at Aitkenvale State School.

The program combines the excitement of Woolworths Cricket Blast with vital lessons in safety, respect, and positive behaviour.

Aitkenvale State School is home to 366 students, with a 20% enrolment rate of Indigenous students and 63% of students having a language background other than English.

Mirroring the Adopt-A-Cop Cricket Blast program in Logan, it uses cricket as a vehicle to create a safe environment for participants to practise positive behaviours that can be implemented in the community and in-school.

The Aitkenvale State School program features 80 participants. Thanks to the Queensland Cricket Foundation, all registrations have been fully subsidised.

Participants will partake in a 4-week program combining both elements from QPS & QC, as well as receiving a Brisbane Heat participant pack and giveways from Queensland Cricket principal partner Queensland Country Bank and local Woolworths stores.
