FIRE READY TO IGNITE IN WNCL | 2026-27 FIXTURES UNVEILED

The Queensland Fire, the reigning Women’s National Cricket League champions, will return to the scene of their Ruth Preddey Cup triumph to launch their 2026-27 campaign.

Cricket Australia today announced the domestic women’s fixtures, including the WNCL and T20 Spring Challenge competitions.

The Fire will open their season on 29 September in Sydney where they will take on NSW in the first of two matches for the opening round.

Queensland defeated NSW by seven runs in a gripping rain-affected Final at Cricket Central last season to claim the State’s second WNCL title.

Fire captain Georgia Redmayne and Australian allrounder Grace Harris combined for a 192-run partnership as Queensland scored a WNCL record 7-332, breaking the mark that the Fire had set in their win over Victoria in 2020-21.

Redmayne (105) scored her second century in a Final and became the first woman to score four centuries in a WNCL season.

Harris was player of the match for her sparkling 111 from 94 balls.

The Fire will play the first part of their season away from home, with the bulk of their games coming in early 2027.

This is due to the India A v Australia A series, while the Australia Women’s team will host back-to-back home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand from October 9-22.

The T20 Spring Challenge competition, which is contested by a Brisbane Heat squad, will again take place over 10 days in Sydney in October as part of the lead-in to the Weber Women’s Big Bash League.

Every ball of the domestic women’s competition will be streamed live across cricket.com.au, Cricket Australia Live app and Kayo Sports. The WNCL Final will also be broadcast on Fox Cricket.

Queensland will host matches against the ACT Meteors, Tasmanian Tigers and Western Australia at Allan Border Field. Admission is free for all home WNCL games.

The Fire will play four day/night away matches, against Victoria at Junction Oval and South Australia at Karen Rolton Oval.
