The opening games of the 2026-27 KFC T20 Max have delivered centuries and provided eye-catching efforts with the ball as Queensland Premier clubs go head-to-head in what has grown into Australia's second biggest T20 competition after the Big Bash.
Action Aplenty In KFC T20 Max
After the opening five days, there have been six centuries in the men's competition. There have been hundreds by Toombul’s Blake Nikitaris (103 from 55 balls), Wests teenager Sohaan Sharma (108no from 57balls), Wynnum-Manly’s Matthew Moran (100 from 53 balls), Sunshine Coast’s Nick Selman (120no from 61 balls), Wests’ Will Bosisto’s robust 132no from 61 balls in the win over South Brisbane and Hugh Weibgen’s mighty 134no from 58 balls in Valley’s win over Sandgate-Redcliffe.
Other innings of note included Harry Sheppard’s 83no from 45 balls for Ipswich in their win over Wynnum-Manly, Kiwi batter Dane Cleaver’s 79 from 52 balls for Norths in their loss to Redlands, Bosisto’s 91 in Wests’ win over UQ, Tom Campbell’s 89no for Wests in their win over Souths, Valley’s Dylan McLachlan’s 85.
There have been eye-catching 4 wicket hauls to young pacemen Tom Balkin (Toombul), Oli Patterson (Wests), Zac McDermott (Gold Coast) and Sean Lutter (Ipswich) as well as Queensland leg-spinner Mitch Swepson (Sandgate-Redcliffe).
Fans at the match between Valley and Sandgate-Redcliffe also saw the rare feat of five wickets fall in one over, with three dismissals to Bryce Street and two run-outs in a harum-scarum end to the Valley innings after Weibgen and McLaclan had earlier run riot with the bat against the Gators.
There were similar fireworks in the Women's competition, with a competition best bowling effort from ACT allrounder Olivia Porter for Ipswich, taking 6-34 from her four overs while Queensland Fire and WBBL Heat top order batter Georgia Redmayne also went agonisingly close to a century, finishing 99no from 60 balls for Wests in their win over UQ.
Porter, who has played in the WBBL with the Sydney Thunder, combined with Souths teenager Piper Veivers (3-40) to help steer the Ipswich line-up to a strong win over front-runners Wynnum-Manly.
Wynnum-Manly's Mikayla Wrigley (91 from 59 balls) also went close to a century a fine outing for her new Premier club and reigning champs while World Cup winner Grace Harris starred with bat and ball in her inimtable style for Wests in their win over Ipswich, crashing 73 from 32 balls and taking 3-11.
Other notable knocks included Wynnum-Manly’s Grace Collins (70no from 50 balls and 62no), Wynnum’s Haley Sllver-Holmes (60no), University’s Emma Jackson (66 off 48), Ipswich’s Rachel Trenaman (68no from 47 balls), University’s Tess Flintoff’s 66no from 39 balls, Wests’ Annie O’Neil (61 from 37 balls), Gold Coast’s Kate Peterson (62no), and Sunshine Coast’s Claire Moore (63 from 41 balls),
With the ball, Fire allrounder Lilly Bassingthwaighte was a stand-out with 4-29 in Wests win over UQ, while Gold Coast's Sam Smithers snapped up 4-27 to lead the Dolphins to victory over Wests.
Matches continue this week, with leader boards tight in both competitons.
In total there will be 15 matches in the male and female competitions broadcast on 7plus Sport, including Finals.
