Bulls Set For One Day Opener

The Bulls finished third in the chase for the Dean Jones Cup last season, qualifying briefly for the Final on the last day of the competition only to be overtaken later that evening by eventual champions NSW.

Queensland will be led by Test squad batter Marnus Labuschagne.

Valley wicket-keeper Dylan McLachlan, a first-time inclusion in the Bulls squad this season, will play his second career ODC game for the Bulls with regular gloveman Jimmy Peirson recovering from a minor hamstring injury.

McLachlan, a Queensland and Australian Indigenous representative, made his debut in 2024 when he replaced Peirson for his only Bulls game to date. He hit 44 against South Australia in the team’s five wicket loss in Adelaide.

Ipswich paceman Jem Ryan, 22, is in line to make his List A debut for Queensland after making an eye-catching impression in the Sheffield Shield last summer, claiming 12 wickets at 18.41 in three games.

Allrounder Hugh Weibgen comes into the game after scoring an unbeaten century last week in Queensland’s intra-squad practice game. He scored 100 retired as he and Valley teammate Dylan McLachlan (82 retired) put on a match-winning stand of 181.

Leg-spinner Mitch Swepson collected the all-time Queensland List A  best bowling figures in the Bulls one day victory over South Australia at the Gabba in the last regular season game in 2025-26.

Swepson took 7-28 to eclipse the record of 7-34 held for over 35 years by Carl Rackemann.

Queensland will have Matt Renshaw and Xavier Bartlett on Australian ODI duties in Zimbabwe while Michael Neser (calf) continues his build-up to Australia's Test tour of South Africa.

The Queensland Fire, the reigning Women's National Cricket League champions, commence their season later this month against NSW in Sydney.
