Fresh from his second career domestic one day century, Queensland Bulls batter Hugh Weibgen will captain his State in the Toyota Second XI competition next week at Peter Burge Oval.
Weibgen To Lead Second XI
Weibgen, who crashed 125 from 89 balls in the Bulls high-scoring loss to NSW last night at Allan Border Field, will lead an experienced Queensland Second XI against Victoria in the four-day game starting on Monday at Wellington Point.
The former Australian Under-19 captain will be joined by his 2023 World Cup teammate Tom Campbell, as well as recent national U-19 batter Steven Hogan in the squad,
Also included is former NSW opener Blake Nikitaras who relocated to Brisbane during the off-season, joining KFC Queensland Premier club Toombul.
Nikitaras, 26, has played 18 first class games for NSW with the left-handed top order bat also playing two One Day Cup and three BBL games.
Pace bowlers Sam Geyer, Sam Skelly and Jem Ryan and allrounder Steve McGiffin all made their first class debuts for Queensland last summer.
Gold Coast pace bowler Zac McDermott and Norths batter Scott Palombo both return to the Queensland Second XI after playing in the side last season during their unbeaten season.
