The Queensland Fire will play a rare match against a touring international team tomorrow when they host Bangladesh at Ian Heaty Oval.
Fire Host Bangladesh
The one-day game will provide Bangladesh with the chance to acclimatise under match conditions ahead of the Tigers ODI series against Australia starting on Friday at Allan Border Field.
Queensland could field two debutants in the match, with Australian Under-19 allrounder Filippa SueSee and Valley teenager Alya Johnson a chance to earn their maiden caps if chosen in the starting team.
SueSee was 12th player in last week’s opening Women’s National Cricket League round against NSW.
Johnson, a top order batter, was a member of the Queensland Under-16 team that won the National titles last season and played in the Australian Under-19 tri-series against Sri Lanka and England earlier in the year,
She turns 15 tomorrow.
Australia ‘A’ allrounder Charli Knott has been named in the squad for her first appearance for the Fire this season, coming off a strong tour of India with the ‘A’ squad.
Knott, 23, was the leading runs-scorer in the One Day series, hitting 211 at 70.33 with a highest score of 109.
The three game Women’s International ODI series at Allan Border Field gets underway on Friday, with the other games on Sunday (Oct 11) and Wednesday (Oct 14). Tickets are on sale now through cricket.com.au
Admission for tomorrow’s tour game is free.
