The Queensland Bulls have made one change to their squad for tomorrow’s Sheffield Shield clash with defending champions South Australia at the Adelaide Oval.
Bulls Call On Campbell
Wests batter Tom Campbell comes into the squad for the first time and would make his first class debut for Queensland if chosen in the starting side.
Campbell, 21, joins his former Australian Under-19 teammates Hugh Weibgen and Tom Straker in the Bulls squad. The trio were part of the 2024 ICC Under-19 World Cup championship team.
The right-handed middle order batter received his first State contract this year in the wake of consistent efforts for Wests in the KFC Queensland Premier Cricket competition and the Toyota Second XI competition last year.
He finished with 1033-runs last summer, with 335 at 67 for the undefeated Queensland Second XI and 698 at 33 for Wests.
He also received the Bob Spence Trophy that is awarded to the Best Under 21 player in the Queensland Premier Cricket competition.
Campbell replaces wicket-keeper Dylan McLachlan in the 13-player squad.
The Bulls opened their Shield season with a tense loss to Western Australia in Perth last week.
Wicket-keeper Jimmy Peirson (above with Cam Gannon) scored his ninth first class century in his 100th first class career game against WA. He has now played 92 Shield games for the Bulls.
The Adelaide Oval clash will be broadcast on FOX Cricket and streamed on KAYO and cricket.com.au
