Congratulations to Paul & Holly Sanders from Maryborough District Cricket Association!

Paul and Holly Sanders have been recognised as the joint winners of the Wide Bay Volunteer of the Year for the 2023-24 period. Their dedication to junior cricket at the Maryborough District Cricket Association is truly remarkable. Paul's extensive tenure as the Junior Coordinator has been pivotal in transforming the Maryborough Cricket Blast into the largest participant centre across Wide Bay. Under his guidance, the cricket community has flourished, fostering inclusivity and engagement among young players and parents alike. Notably, Paul's commitment extends beyond administrative duties as he tirelessly oversees district rep cricket and local junior competitions. Meanwhile, Holly's recent appointment as the Association's Child Safety Officer underscores their shared dedication to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.

Beyond her role in child safety, Holly has played a crucial part in modernizing the association's operations. Leading the rollout of PlayHQ, she has facilitated smoother management of cricket activities and provided essential support to digital and manual scorers. Moreover, Holly's proactive approach to social media has amplified Junior achievements and communications, further strengthening community ties. Her involvement doesn't stop there; Holly actively contributes to securing grants aimed at enhancing facilities for both existing and prospective participants.

The Sanders' unwavering commitment to junior cricket transcends mere administrative duties. Despite their busy schedules, which include traveling for their sons' participation in inter-district and rep cricket, they remain dedicated to nurturing the next generation of cricketers. Their selfless efforts, driven by a genuine desire to prioritize the well-being and enjoyment of every participant, resonate not only within the local community but also across the wider Wide Bay region. Paul and Holly Sanders' tireless dedication and inclusive approach make them truly deserving recipients of the Volunteer of the Year award.
